Outdoor Senior Portraits

Kirk Pullen Photography has a vast amount of experience working with seniors from local high schools. I took this picture of Raychel near Clinton, North Carolina. The sun was just starting to set as Raychel was standing next to the barn door. As you can see, the sunlight was very diffused gave us some great soft light. Sunset is usually the best time to take outdoor photos. Typically in the middle of the day the light gets too harsh and the bright parts of a photo start losing their details. If you know how to light a photo correctly, then you can do it any time of day. The great thing about going outside to take senior portraits is the variety of images that can be created.

Senior Portraits

I took this senior portrait of Kathleen at a house near Mt. Olive, North Carolina. It was great because the property had ponds, hay bails, and animals. It makes it so easy to take photos of seniors outdoors when there are a variety of settings to choose from. My thanks to the Britt family for letting me capture these images.

Fall Family Portraits in Faison, North Carolina

The best time of year to photograph someone outdoors is the fall. The color just adds another dimension to a photograph that you just can't get any other time of year. I've had the opportunity to photograph the Williams family for several years now and they always end up with fantastic outdoor family portraits. If you would like pictures of your family that you will never forget, call me soon before all the colored leaves disappear.

North Carolina Weddings

One of the great things about being a photographer in North Carolina is being able to photograph weddings at beautiful outdoor locations. I shot this particular wedding at Frisco on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It was almost 100 degrees when I took this picture of the Laughlin's on their wedding day. I was so impressed with their attitude because they valued taking the time to get great photos as a couple instead of rushing to the reception like most couples do. They could have bowed out due to the heat but they didn't and now they have memorable images that will last a lifetime.

Walk at School Day

Kirk Pullen Photography was hired to photograph students participating in the Active Routes to school program in several counties in North Carolina. I recently photographed the Walk at School day events at Wallace Elementary School and Roseboro Elementary School. The students learned safety tips about what side of the street to walk on and what to wear when walking at night. The students also learned about the health benefits of walking. I think I got my 10,000 steps in covering both of these events because I was worn out when I returned home.

National Landmark

Have you ever gone out and taken so many photos that when you get home, you don't get a chance to edit them all? Well that happened to me a few weeks ago. I was browsing through my hard drive of old photos and came across this gem. I had even shot the photo in 5 different exposures to bring out the details in the highlights and shadows. After looking at the metadata I realized that this photo of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is 3 years old.

Mom's Wedding Dress

"When's the wedding?" I asked Sarah Beth. "In 30 years," Mom, Darlene Barefoot Quinn, replied. We had a lot of fun creating these images in the Kirk Pullen Photography studio last weekend. Sarah Beth wore Darlene's wedding dress for this timeless session.

Senior Portraits Clinton, North Carolina

I took this senior portrait of Raychel a few years ago in Clinton, North Carolina. I often have ideas that pop in my head and I think of different ways of editing older photos. This session was shot in the afternoon and when I originally edited it I just did minimal editing to it. Well I was never truly happy with the minimal edit on this image and I wanted the photo to have a sunrise feel to it. Well, here is the resulting image! There really is no more of an ideal senior portrait location than an endless row of sunflowers! If you have senior who is looking for creative and unique portraits then call me at 910-590-7761 and book your session with Kirk Pullen Photography.

Wedding in Wallace, North Carolina

I photographed Jonathan and Stephanie Lindsay's wedding at the Mad Boar Restaurant in Wallace, North Carolina this weekend. It was a beautiful wedding held in the upstairs portion of the restaurant called the Celtic Court. Most of the wedding packages I offer come with bridal portraits included. In early June I worked with Stephanie for some outdoor and studio bridal portraits.

Beauty Headshot

When the weather isn't cooperating, I like to edit older photos. It took a little over an hour to get the skin to a point that I was happy with. This was shot on a black background and was a bit boring, so I added a bit of color in Photoshop to give it some kick!

New Years on the Outer Banks of North Carolina

It was great growing up on the Outer Banks of North Carolina! Beautiful beaches, surfing, fishing and many other things to do. I don't live there anymore but it is really convenient to have 3 family members who still live there. It gives my family several choices when we go for a visit and we have a variety of places to stay. I took this photo of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse on New Years Eve in Buxton, North Carolina.
