2017 Mount Olive Pickle Festival

Earlier this year I was asked to photograph the 2017 Pickle Festival in Mount Olive North Carolina.  I had a schedule to follow, as I walked nearly ten miles with my camera in 95 degree heat to capture each event.

The day started by photographing the participants of the 75 mile tour de pickle bicycle race. Men and women with really expensive bicycles showed up early to ride in an insane amount of heat! Runners also braved the heat wave and dressed up in their best pickle costumes while taking part in the Cuke Patch 5k run.

One of the events that really catches your eye at the pickle festival is the car show. Several blocks worth of classic cars compete in different categories to see who has the best looking ride around town!

There were many musical acts that I photographed, including Dakota Blue, Andrew Salgado as well as praise and worship performers. I was really impressed with the level of musical talent that these people possess.

I think competitive eater champion Joey Chestnut would have been proud of the pickle eating contest, where 10 contestants stuffed themselves with as many Mount Olive pickles as they could eat in 5 minutes. Right after the pickle eating contest, the mascots from local businesses had a race. Ollie the pickle raced the cow from Chick Fil A as well as other mascots for the championship!

There are a lot of family oriented things to do at the pickle festival. There are rides for adults and kids as well as some really good food! The Mount Olive Pickle Company is great because they hand out free pickles all day at their booth.

I really enjoyed myself while photographing the event. If you are looking for a family friendly good time, then I highly recommend you attend this year! The 2018 NC Pickle Festival is April 28, 2018.

Local High School Football Star

Congratulations to Luke who is a senior and plays football for North Duplin High School! North Duplin is currently undefeated half way through their season. Luke chose Kirk Pullen Photography for his senior portraits and football pictures. He was really a good sport during these photos! In many of the photos, his mom was repeatedly hitting him in the face with cups of water. You can really get some memorable photos when you're willing to step out of the norm.

Commercial Portrait Photographer

I had an interesting weekend! I was contacted by a major auto manufacturer to take portraits of some of the drivers who tested their latest design. I'll give more details once the magazine goes into print. While waiting to shoot the portraits, I spotted the sun breaking through some trees near our location. #kirkpullenphotography #mountolivephotographer #railroadtracks

Dance Photography Mount Olive

I've had the privilege of photographing Karli for several years. Today, she had the honor of being the first person photographed in my new studio in Mount Olive. She was willing to try out some longer exposures as she jumped over and over again until we got the look we were trying to achieve.  #portraits #headshots #dancephotography

All the small things...

In the summer when I am on vacation I am still a photographer! I love to take macros of bugs. Yes, I am a nerd who finds it relaxing to get out and photograph things going on in nature. Here are a few fly macros that I took a few weeks ago while on vacationing at my parents house on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I only had to take a few steps out the door on the deck to find these particular photo opportunities.

Kirk Pullen Photography now located in Mount Olive, North Carolina

I haven't had much time to post to this blog for the last month. It has been the busiest 2 months of my life! Photography and moving to a new location were taking all of my time! In late May, I moved from Warsaw, to a house in Mount Olive, North Carolina. The house that we moved to is much bigger and helps with my two children who need their space. I am still working with photo clients from Duplin county and the surrounding areas. If you are in need of a photographer in Mount Olive or Wayne county, then contact me HERE.
